Bryan R. Fischer has been writing books about MBD, MBE, drawing practices, GD&T, tolerance analysis and related topics since 2001.

Model-Based Enterprise – Achieving Lasting Value from MBD and MBE

Bryan’s most recent book was published by CRC Press in December 2024. The book is structured to increase people’s understanding MBD and MBE, which are often misunderstood.

Model-Based Enterprise – Achieving Lasting Value from MBD and MBE
focuses on obtaining business value from MBD and MBE, maximizing the value obtained from our information and intellectual property.

MBD and MBE are often misunderstood, oversimplified, and implemented in a manner that yields little real value for an organization. This book was written to change that, to make sure people understand MBE’s true purpose and its value proposition. — The future starts now!

Digital Data Sets and 3D Solid Modeling – Using Digital Data and Annotated Models as Design Deliverables

This is Bryan’s first significant work about MBD and MBE, written 2007- 2008. The material focuses on MBD, and is intended as an adjunct that clarifies and extends the ASME Y14.41-2003 standard. The material was originally published as Chapter 26 of the IHS Global Drawing Requirements Manual, 11th ed.. This early work provides a traditional view of MBD appropriate for 2008. This material is listed here for informational purposes.

Today, a new approach is needed. Bryan’s latest book on MBD and MBE, provides an updated value-based approach to MBD and MBE.
